Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a
plane! It’s…Well, you know how it ends,
don’t you? It’s a sentence so iconic,
there are probably kids shouting it in
Swahili as you read this.
The most recognized superhero in pop
culture, Superman has been elevated to
mythic folkhero status. Rocketed to
Earth from the dying planet Krypton,
baby Kal-El was found by a farming
couple who named the boy Clark Kent
and raised him as their own.
Discovering his enormous powers, they
instilled in him strong moral values—and
inspired him to become a hero.
Superman has super-everything—
strength, speed, flight, invulnerability as
well as his renowned X-ray and heat
vision. The most powerful being on the
planet, his amazing abilities are also a
melancholy reminder of how different he
is from the people he’s dedicated to
protect.
A universal icon, Superman means
different things to the many diverse
people he inspires: He’s an alien; an
immigrant from a faraway land just
looking to help; a country boy fighting
the never-ending battle for truth and
justice. And recent comics have truly
spotlighted his role as the people’s
hero: Following a neophyte Man of
Steel still learning his powers’ limits,
Superman fights the evil corporate
tycoons and corrupt one-percenters that
have overwhelmed the establishment.

Batwoman writers quit DC Comics after lesbian marriage storyline dropped
Two writers who co-author the
Batwoman comic book series have
resigned from DC Comics citing last
minute changes to their storylines –
including the gay marriage of
Batwoman and her girlfriend.
In a blog post, which is no longer
available online, the writers J.H Williams
and W. Haden Blackman declared that
they were leaving DC Comics alleging
that they had been asked to "alter or
completely discard many long-standing
storylines that we feel compromise the
character and the series".
They said: "We were told to ditch plans
for Killer Croc's origins; forced to
drastically alter the original ending of
our current arc, which would have
defined Batwoman's heroic future in
bold new ways; and, most crushingly,
prohibited from ever showing Kate and
Maggie actually getting married.
"All of these editorial decisions came at
the last minute, and always after a year
or more of planning and plotting on our
end."
Batwoman as a character disappeared
from comics in 1976 but was
reintroduced to DC Comics in 2006 and
earned her own stand-alone storyline in
2010 in a spin off series.
While there have been other gay
characters in the history of DC comics,
Batwoman is the first ongoing comic
series headlined by an openly gay
hero, and earned the series an award
from GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance
Against Defamation) last year. Issue 17
of the comic showed the pair getting
engaged, which was a first in a
mainstream comic.

Superman and Wonder woman share the spotlight with the new World Trade Center building in poster
Batman-The Dark Knight
Dark Knight. Caped Crusader. World’s
Greatest Detective. Whatever you know
him as, wherever you know him from—
the blockbuster movies, TV shows,
video games, cartoons, or millions of
comics—Batman is proof you don’t need
superpowers to be a superhero… and
the poster boy for what a bad
childhood can do to you.
Millionaire Bruce Wayne was just a kid
when he watched his parents get
gunned down during a mugging in
Gotham City. The crime would define his
life, as he dedicated himself to
becoming the world’s greatest weapon
against crime—the Batman.
Forget his Batarangs, Batmobile, or
Utility Belt filled with high-tech weapons.
Batman is the most feared superhero of
all, because he’s pushed himself to the
absolute pinnacle of human
achievement. He’s a brilliant detective
who’s mastered fighting techniques the
world’s barely heard of. An Olympic-
caliber athlete with a plan for every
occasion, Batman’s seemingly always
five steps ahead of his foes. But in his
crusade against injustice, two questions
always loom: How far will he go to
protect the innocent, and will he
sacrifice his humanity along the way?
Rumor: JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie Villain Revealed?
What can we confirm about Warner
Bros.’ Justice League so far? We know
Zack Snyder (director of Man of Steel )
has a lot to say about how his film fits
into the Justice League universe, and
that Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark
Knight Rises ) is reportedly not set to
play Batman in the picture. Other than
that, we know Will Beall ( Gangster
Squad) is writing the screenplay which
will feature Superman, Batman, Green
Lantern, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, the
Flash and other heroes. But who will
these heroes unite against, exactly?
Will it be an army of faceless evildoers,
much like the Chitauri in The Avengers ?
Not likely, since the Marvel sequel will
be opening the same year as the DC
picture and The Avengers 2 already
has a Mad Titan in Thanos. So who in
the DC universe could possibly be more
powerful? Hit the jump to find out.
Though this is just a rumor at
present, possible spoilers clearly follow
ahead, so proceed at your own risk. In
a recent report from Latino-Review , the
guys are pretty confident that they’ve
nailed the big baddie for the Justice
League team-up. It makes sense, as
DC’s got some heavy hitters on the
heroic side who are going to need a
substantial boss to go up against
instead of a bunch of punching bags.
So just who is it going to be?
None other than…Darkseid! Originally
introduced in 1970, Darkseid has been
a primary antagonist of Superman and
the Justice League for over 40 years.
Outside of the comics, he’s also
appeared in television shows like
1984′s Super Friends, the 90s’
Superman: The Animated Series and the
2000s animated versions of Justice
League. He also played the major
antagonist for the final season of the
live-action series, Smallville. Superman
aside, for those of you who think the
under-powered Batman is toast when it
comes to going up against Darkseid,
check out the Batman: The Brave and
the Bold episode, “Darkseid
Descending” to see how that battle
plays out.
One of the most powerful characters in
the DC universe, the god Darkseid has
incredible strength, invulnerability,
endurance, immortality, a genius
intellect and telekinetic powers.
However, his greatest strength and his
deadliest weapon is the Omega force, a
manipulation of cosmic energy that he
directs into Omega Beams (beams that
shoot from his eyes and can bend
around objects, eliminating whatever
they hit from existence) and the Omega
Sanction, a banishment to hellish
alternative realities. Though Darkseid
possesses even more powers than
those listed here, he most often likes to
work as a manipulator, using his
superior brain-power to lure and trick
the heroes into doing his bidding. No
word yet on if Granny Goodness and
the Female Furies will be joining the
fun, but Darkseid alone should be a
proper villain for Supes and the gang!
Let us know what you think about
Darkseid in Justice League.
Rumor: New Batman Could Get His Start in JUSTICE LEAGUE by Summer 2015
MEET The JUSTICE LEAGUE,SEE WHOS IN AND WHO IS OUT,AND WHO ARE JUST IN THE CAMEO
As you can see from the above image,
not everyone who’s historically been in
DC’s Justice League will make it into
Warner Bros. Justice League in 2015.
The only confirmed creative type on the
picture is screenwriter Will Beall
(Gangster Squad) as no director or cast
is in place yet, but it looks as if we
might have a solid core of characters
we can expect to see on screen. We
posted an extensive list of possible
superheroes a couple of weeks ago,
along with the rumors of the movie’s
villain and source material . That list has
been whittled down considerably. Hit
the jump to see who made the cut, who
missed out and who might pop up as a
cameo.
The reliable troop at Latino Review
report that the following costumed
crime-fighters will form the core
of Justice League :
Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman,
Green Lantern and The Flash
Not exactly earth-shattering news.
What’s more interesting is who might
also be making an appearance, either
as a brief cameo or as a possible
credits scene with lead-ins to the
inevitable sequel. The article reports
that Aquaman and the Martian
Manhunter have the highest possibility
of a cameo, with Hawkman rounding out
the list as the slimmest chance. Their
money and mine go to Manhunter for
some extra power and cosmic
background. The League is going to
need all the help they can get to go up
against Darkseid, so we’ll see how this
plays out (sorry, Green Arrow).
Also, it’s a shame that the female
superheroes are once again
outnumbered. While The Avengers was
light on gender equality on
screen, Justice League has a chance to
attract more female fans by leveling the
playing field a bit. Don’t get me wrong,
Wonder Woman is an essential member
of the team, but there has been nary a
mention of Black Canary, Zatanna or
Hawkgirl. It looks like Justice
League is sticking with the original
members. Let’s hope it’s a successful
adaptation that has a chance to add
some variety further down the line.
Who would you be excited to see
in Justice League ? For that matter, who
would you like to see play the core
characters? Let us know in the
comments!
