Superman and Wonder woman share the spotlight with the new World Trade Center building in poster

DC Comics is promoting the New York Comic Con convention this fall with a poster that prominently features the Man of Steel, Wonder Woman and the new One World Trade Center. Look up in the sky! It’s a bird, it’s a plane ... no, it’s One World Trade Center! The official DC Comics poster for the upcoming New York Comic Con features a completed World Trade Center tower sharing top billing with Superman and Wonder Woman. Drawn by French artist Stephane Roux, the posters of the Man of Steel leaping a really tall building in a single bound will soon be plastered in comic stores and Metro North stations. “Nothing in the city’s skyline embodies that same spirit of the city more” than the new One World Trade Center, said Lance Fensterman, a vice-president of ReedPOP, an event producer. This year’s New York Comic Con will be Oct. 10-13 at the Javits Center.

Batman-The Dark Knight

Dark Knight. Caped Crusader. World’s
Greatest Detective. Whatever you know
him as, wherever you know him from—
the blockbuster movies, TV shows,
video games, cartoons, or millions of
comics—Batman is proof you don’t need
superpowers to be a superhero… and
the poster boy for what a bad
childhood can do to you.
Millionaire Bruce Wayne was just a kid
when he watched his parents get
gunned down during a mugging in
Gotham City. The crime would define his
life, as he dedicated himself to
becoming the world’s greatest weapon
against crime—the Batman.
Forget his Batarangs, Batmobile, or
Utility Belt filled with high-tech weapons.
Batman is the most feared superhero of
all, because he’s pushed himself to the
absolute pinnacle of human
achievement. He’s a brilliant detective
who’s mastered fighting techniques the
world’s barely heard of. An Olympic-
caliber athlete with a plan for every
occasion, Batman’s seemingly always
five steps ahead of his foes. But in his
crusade against injustice, two questions
always loom: How far will he go to
protect the innocent, and will he
sacrifice his humanity along the way?

Rumor: JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie Villain Revealed?

What can we confirm about Warner
Bros.’ Justice League so far? We know
Zack Snyder (director of Man of Steel )
has a lot to say about how his film fits
into the Justice League universe, and
that Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark
Knight Rises ) is reportedly not set to
play Batman in the picture. Other than
that, we know Will Beall ( Gangster
Squad) is writing the screenplay which
will feature Superman, Batman, Green
Lantern, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, the
Flash and other heroes. But who will
these heroes unite against, exactly?
Will it be an army of faceless evildoers,
much like the Chitauri in The Avengers ?
Not likely, since the Marvel sequel will
be opening the same year as the DC
picture and The Avengers 2 already
has a Mad Titan in Thanos. So who in
the DC universe could possibly be more
powerful? Hit the jump to find out.
Though this is just a rumor at
present, possible spoilers clearly follow
ahead, so proceed at your own risk. In
a recent report from Latino-Review , the
guys are pretty confident that they’ve
nailed the big baddie for the Justice
League team-up. It makes sense, as
DC’s got some heavy hitters on the
heroic side who are going to need a
substantial boss to go up against
instead of a bunch of punching bags.
So just who is it going to be?
None other than…Darkseid! Originally
introduced in 1970, Darkseid has been
a primary antagonist of Superman and
the Justice League for over 40 years.
Outside of the comics, he’s also
appeared in television shows like
1984′s Super Friends, the 90s’
Superman: The Animated Series and the
2000s animated versions of Justice
League. He also played the major
antagonist for the final season of the
live-action series, Smallville. Superman
aside, for those of you who think the
under-powered Batman is toast when it
comes to going up against Darkseid,
check out the Batman: The Brave and
the Bold episode, “Darkseid
Descending” to see how that battle
plays out.
One of the most powerful characters in
the DC universe, the god Darkseid has
incredible strength, invulnerability,
endurance, immortality, a genius
intellect and telekinetic powers.
However, his greatest strength and his
deadliest weapon is the Omega force, a
manipulation of cosmic energy that he
directs into Omega Beams (beams that
shoot from his eyes and can bend
around objects, eliminating whatever
they hit from existence) and the Omega
Sanction, a banishment to hellish
alternative realities. Though Darkseid
possesses even more powers than
those listed here, he most often likes to
work as a manipulator, using his
superior brain-power to lure and trick
the heroes into doing his bidding. No
word yet on if Granny Goodness and
the Female Furies will be joining the
fun, but Darkseid alone should be a
proper villain for Supes and the gang!
Let us know what you think about
Darkseid in Justice League.

Rumor: New Batman Could Get His Start in JUSTICE LEAGUE by Summer 2015

With the conclusion of Christopher Nolan ‘s Batman trilogy, the future of DC Comics movies is entirely up in the air right now. DC and Warner Bros’ next step in the gameplan is Zack Snyder ‘s Superman reboot Man of Steel, which must fight through the general disappointment created by the last reboot, Superman Returns . That’s nothing compared to Green Lantern , which rode a 26% Rotten Tomatoes score to squeak past $200 million worldwide. But hey, at least they have movies: Wonder Woman and The Flash are left out in the cold, and Aquaman may only be a viable superhero in the Hollywood fantasy of Entourage. DC’s rival Marvel spent years carefully assembling their stable of heroes, culminating in the smash success of The Avengers. It seems DC is going to cut through the Gordian knot and skip straight to Justice League after Man of Steel, and use that to introduce the new era of DC movies. More after the jump. A source told Batman on Film that Justice League will be the next DC picture after Man of Steel, possibly lined up for Summer 2015. As suits their interest, BOF noted that the new, rebooted Batman would be introduced in Justice League before WB started a new standalone Batman series. One could hardly blame DC for using the movie as an opportunity to reboot Green Lantern. And since Snyder has implied that his Superman has no explicit connection to Justice League, there is flexibility there as well. Treat this all as rumor for now, in part because all things Justice League — including stories that the likes of Ben Affleck or the Wachowskis might direct— should be treated as rumor. Even if Warner Bros. know exactly what they want to do with the DC heroes, they are waiting to make those intentions public. We have confirmed that Gangster Squad writer Will Beall is working on the Justice League script, and Christopher Nolan does not want to be involved. With that foundation, please feel free to take over the speculation in the comments.

MEET The JUSTICE LEAGUE,SEE WHOS IN AND WHO IS OUT,AND WHO ARE JUST IN THE CAMEO

As you can see from the above image,
not everyone who’s historically been in
DC’s Justice League will make it into
Warner Bros. Justice League in 2015.
The only confirmed creative type on the
picture is screenwriter Will Beall
(Gangster Squad) as no director or cast
is in place yet, but it looks as if we
might have a solid core of characters
we can expect to see on screen. We
posted an extensive list of possible
superheroes a couple of weeks ago,
along with the rumors of the movie’s
villain and source material . That list has
been whittled down considerably.  Hit
the jump to see who made the cut, who
missed out and who might pop up as a
cameo.
The reliable troop at Latino Review
report that the following costumed
crime-fighters will form the core
of Justice League :
Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman,
Green Lantern and The Flash
Not exactly earth-shattering news.
What’s more interesting is who might
also be making an appearance, either
as a brief cameo or as a possible
credits scene with lead-ins to the
inevitable sequel. The article reports
that Aquaman and the Martian
Manhunter have the highest possibility
of a cameo, with Hawkman rounding out
the list as the slimmest chance. Their
money and mine go to Manhunter for
some extra power and cosmic
background.  The League is going to
need all the help they can get to go up
against Darkseid, so we’ll see how this
plays out (sorry, Green Arrow).
Also, it’s a shame that the female
superheroes are once again
outnumbered. While The Avengers was
light on gender equality on
screen, Justice League has a chance to
attract more female fans by leveling the
playing field a bit.  Don’t get me wrong,
Wonder Woman is an essential member
of the team, but there has been nary a
mention of Black Canary, Zatanna or
Hawkgirl. It looks like Justice
League is sticking with the original
members. Let’s hope it’s a successful
adaptation that has a chance to add
some variety further down the line.
Who would you be excited to see
in Justice League ? For that matter, who
would you like to see play the core
characters? Let us know in the
comments!
